Peggy Martins

Peggy Martin Roses are known for their incredible resilience, vigorous growth, and beautiful clusters of pink blooms. Often called the "Hurricane Katrina Rose," this nearly thornless climbing rose gained fame after surviving weeks of flooding and saltwater exposure during the storm. At Salty Dawg Homestead, I propagate Peggy Martin Roses and periodically offer rooted plants for sale. If plants are currently unavailable, join the notification list below to be the first to know when the next batch is ready.

Peggy's Story

The Peggy Martin Rose has an inspiring story behind it. Before Hurricane Katrina devastated Louisiana in 2005, a rose growing on the property of Peggy Martin was shared with friends and gardeners. After the storm, the original plant was submerged under floodwaters for weeks, yet it survived when countless other plants did not. Its remarkable resilience captured the attention of gardeners across the country, and the rose became known as the "Hurricane Katrina Rose." Today, the Peggy Martin Rose is cherished not only for its beautiful pink blooms and vigorous growth, but also as a symbol of strength, perseverance, and hope in the face of adversity.
